MICHELLE YAO x MARCHESA
After so many weeks of sweat and (almost) tears, I've finally finished my shoe last week! Once the term is over, I will work on getting the rest of my work up on here and on Behance.
As you know, I am now in my second year of my Footwear Design degree at LCF, and I must say this is the most fun I've had so far. The project brief was to design for a company in mind, no matter at which market level, so I chose Marchesa as I fall in love with their glamourous dresses each season. My research was based on chinese porcelain, but elevated in a modern way. The upper was made with a layer of thin laser-cut calf suede, stuck on to thicker cow suede with a sheepskin piped edge. While my original design featured a solid wooden heel, I had to make mine out of cork and cover it with wood veneer. More info of my design process will be posted soon!
